Air North 737-800
Air North, officially Air North Charter and Training Ltd., is a Canadian airline based in Whitehorse, Yukon. They operate scheduled passenger, charter, and cargo services across Canada to the provinces of British Columbia, Yukon, Alberta, and Ontario, as well as the Northwest Territory.
The Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation has a 49% stake in the airline, making them the only airline to have partial ownership by an indigenous group.
Currently, Air North operates a fleet of ATR-72s, 737-400s, and the most recent addition, 2 737-800s purchased in part with federal funding. The 737-800s first took flight in July of this year.
“These newer, larger and more fuel-efficient aircraft will be well-received by our passengers," said Joe Sparling, Air North’s President and CEO. “In addition, the fuel and other cost savings they offer will allow us to provide a great product at a fair price for years to come.”
The Boeing 737-800 is one of the most popular aircraft in the 737 family, widely used by airlines around the world for short- to medium-haul routes. It’s versatile and dependable, making it well suited for operations in Canada’s far North.
