“The aircraft will feature varying tail designs, reflective of the arts and crafts heritage of India. This first MAX draws inspiration from the Bandhani textile design, but the airline notes that forthcoming aircraft will be inspired by other traditional patterns, including Ajrakh, Patola, Kanjeevaram, and Kalamkari.”
~Campbell Wilson, Chairman of Air India Group of Airlines
These designs are inspired by the country’s rich arts and crafts heritage, which I believe was also themed by the airline as the “Patterns of India”. I came across an article that lists the patterns present on each registration, their reasons, as well as their states of origin. It’s nice to see them carry on the tradition of different art on each tail on the new livery as well.
