Air France retires it’s first A380

Today Air France retired their first A380 as it did it’s final flight from Dresden to Knock. The aircraft (F-HPJB) did it’s final commercial flight on New Year’s Day which was from Shanghai Pudong to Paris CDG. The aircraft then flew to Dresden the next day in order to have some paintwork and other things done. Finally, today, at 14:51 ETC, the plane did it’s final takeoff and it’s flying life officially ended at 16:12 GMT when it landed in Knock. The aircraft will now be the 3rd A380 to be dismantled.

If I’m not mistaken, Air France retired an A380 a few weeks back to be scrapped.

The final flight was done today though…

Indeed. There are already two topics about this regarding this same aircraft, if anyone wants more background info.

Yup. Not a few weeks, but in November.

But then why was the final flight done today? Even Simple Flying says it’s the first A380 to be retired.

Even though the a380 was a flop, it’s sad to see it slowly die.

Because today was the date set to be scrapped. This does not change the fact that it was retired on January 2nd.
