The X-37B has returned to the United States for the first time in two years. The X-37B spent 780 days in space. Launched by Space X in September of 2017 this top secret space plane spent the last two years in Space.
Now what is the X37B? That’s top secret while Boeing and the Air Force is willing share detailed photos of it; what it actually does remains very quiet.
Though At an aerospace meeting in 2011, Arthur Grantz, a chief engineer with Boeing, the company that built the X-37B, said that the program had been evaluating the vehicle’s autonomous navigation and other systems. While he didn’t say what the Air Force wanted with an operational spaceplane, he speculated that the vehicle could be modified in the future to carry passengers.
The US Air Force operates two X-37Bs.
