Air China 106 mystery!

An Air China flight from Hong Kong to Dalian on a 737-800 suddenly lost pressure while at 35,000 ft. Nothing too severe right, but after decending to 10,000 ft the crew climbed again and continued on! As stated in the article below, “Why didn’t the crew divert out of an abundance of caution”. This one really leaves me confused, not beause the plane lkst pressure or that it climbed again but because the article states that there is belief that the pilots had ben smoking

Turbulence? Probably not.

It’s suspected the crew accidentally hit a switch which depressurised the cabin when they were supposedly “smoking”. That is still yet to be confirmed though.

They probably didn’t want to get caught.

It has been confirmed that the pilot was smoking an e-cigarette, and meant to turn off the air recycling fans, so the passengers didn’t complain, but accidentally turned off the AC, so it felt like depressurisation.

No mystery. If you ever have flown on a Chinese airline in J or F you would have smelled smoke from the cockpit. FAs deny it and there is nothing you can do about it as it is the culture there. Completely disgusting.
