About the Airbus A321neo
The Airbus A321neo is a narrow-body, single-aisle airliner developed by Airbus as part of the A320neo family (neo standing for “new engine option”). It is an enhanced version of the A321ceo (current engine option), featuring a stretched fuselage, making it the longest in Airbus’s A320 series. The A321neo offers seating for 180 to 220 passengers in a typical two-class configuration, or up to 244 in high-density layouts, such as AirAsia’s 236-seat single-class setup. Powered by CFM International LEAP-1A or Pratt & Whitney PW1100G-JM engines and equipped with sharklet wingtip devices, it delivers up to 20% better fuel efficiency, reduced CO2 emissions, and a range increase of 500 nautical miles (930 km) compared to the A321ceo. The A321neo first flew on February 9, 2016, and entered service with Virgin America on May 31, 2017.
