On July 9th, the algerian national airline Air Algerie has taken delivery of its first 737 MAX 8.
Registered 7T-VLQ and named الحرّية/El Houria (Freedom), this MAX was due to be operated by Gol, but it never did, instead, the aircraft went to the algerian airline.
As of now, Air Algerie currently have a fleet of three MAX 8s (7T-VLQ, 7T-VLS and 7T-VLR).
The airline back in early 2026, has ordered 10 MAX 8s, which in five will be delivered in 2026 and the five others, in 2027.
(In fact: the two others were also scheduled to be operated by Gol, but it never did).
Air Algérie (Arabic: الخطوط الجوية الجزائرية) is the national airline and flag carrier of Algeria, headquartered in Algiers. Founded in 1947, it operates from its primary hub at Houari Boumediene Airport (ALG/DAAG). The airline serves a network of domestic and international destinations across Africa, Europe, the Persian Gulf Region and North America, with long-haul routes reaching Montreal and Beijing.
The airline currently operates a fleet of 59 aircraft, including 3× 737-8 MAXs.
