Remember that new controllers come directly from playground, and that they are not used to control so many planes at the same time. As always, practise makes perfect.
A trainee at a Delta airport doesnât have the experience to control 20 aircrafts but a controller at LAX will surely have!

Excuses are like (deleted)! Yes all Controller comes from the school house. When they matriculate to the Advanced they should be fully trained, vetted and required to ride shotgun and/or Control under the direct supervision of a veteran operator who then signs them off as âFully Qualifiedâ Thatâs the way they do it in the real world., why not in IF? Am I missing something here or is there a flaw in the training pipe line. Mad Max Sends
Yes indeed you are, because the only practice they had was on the playground where 50% of time the rules are not followed thus making the training for ATC on adv much harder
In addition, once controllers get access to the Adv. serv they can only control deltas. In order to be promoted they need to show that they are capable of handling many aircrafts at the same time.
I hope I have answered your question regarding this issue :)
Drago⌠I know and identify closely with the trials and tribulations encountered when you deal with an all volunteer group in training. A group that obviously works very hard in the limited amount of time they contribute taken from there biz lives. Something that is often not recognized by the diverse Pilot community. My comment was not ment to criticize but only an observation.
In future please consider the source. Regards, Max Sends
Yes ofc. My comment was not an offensiveâ> defensive one but rather one where I just wanted to explain why things are as they are :)!
If you have any more questions feel free to ask them!
This particular time was different. The controller just got promoted to advanced controller and a bunch of other controllers decided to go do some tânâgâs. Before long others had joined and it was too much. It normally doesnât happen this way. Besides this is an old post. If Iâm not mistaken the controller is now an approach controller.
