The state of South Australia is in a blackout after severe storms today. The airport has had major disruptions, and the cause is yet to be found. Developing story, more sources to come soon.
Yeah. To anyone in south Australia please stay safe. This will cause huge delays for the airport.
The amount of delays are going to be huge…
This is a map of Australia if you’re wondering where SA is
It is the purple part. Sydney is located on the coast of the red part, Melbourne is located on the coast of the green part.
Oh, okay. Thanks! (I would like it but I’m out of likes :D)
Being one of the biggest airports in Australia there are going to be a huge amount of cancelled flights. People have been rescued from elevators, there is no access to mobiles etc. So far it is understood lightning struck a power station and caused the whole system to collapse.
Oh wow, that’s a lot worst than I thought 😳
Yeah, they were showing on the news that no traffic lights were working and it was an absolute chaos. Just hope everyone is alright and everything gets fixed fast.
A little update
A few flights are still entering and exiting the state (the control tower is using a backup generator)

Chaos in the terminals
Town is still a mess
Storm is fast approaching NSW and Victoria… 60cm of snow for the Snowy Mountains and torrential rain forecast for Sydney
Well they can’t see your message because they’ve got no internet! :-P
UPDATE: Power is slowly being returned to some towns, most of the state is still in darkness

Everyone in the storm’s path, watch out!!
@Skylines it’s coming for you
He is on a holiday in WA so he’ll be fine.
I am in the path…yay IF all day. Stay safe people in ACT, ViC and SA. And the rest of the population in NSW
Oh lucky. @Hankthegamer 60cm of snow and gale-force winds are heading for the Snowy Mountains near you! Cars are being evacuated from the mountain in preparation for the storm (I was there today).
UPDATE: Air services to Adelaide are being continued using backup power, the terminals are still in a blackout (the same as almost all of SA currently). Power has only reportedly been restored to some rural areas.
Luckily I’m on holiday to Western Aus, so all G!!

One of Australia’s biggest Airports? Now that’s a stretch! It’s our 5th busiest behind Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
Second storm is coming?

Hope it isn’t too bad, I’m in Wellington at the moment and the weather is fine.
