Add greetings prefixes to ATC

Just an idea but how would it be if the first message one sends to a controller or pilot, as the case may be, began with a simple greeting such as a good morning/afternoon/evening depending on the local time wherever you are?

Addendum: I daresay doing the same for the existing ‘thank you, good day’ message wouldn’t go amiss either - this would come at frequency changes

Nooo out of votes. That would be so much better and would set a much nicer tone for pilots and ATC.

That’d be a really nice touch

It could be something like this imo
“Kennedy tower, good morning/afternoon/evening, callsign, inbound on the ILS runway xx”

I just took out one of my votes to vote on this. Really good idea!

Hehe ah well it was just an attempt at raising the old bar of courtesy, you know :p I’d rather it be more than the optional ‘thank you, good day’ thing which a lot of folks forget or don’t have time to do if busy

I’d love to say Good Morning after someone finally wakes up from their long haul after circling the airport.

That just made me hyena laugh! OK, how about this; “wakey, wakey! You’re in an active airspace”? God knows I could do with that one on occasion :p

I always say “Thank you” after someone finally follows an instruction after a PFI. Removes the awkward tension in the air. The commands you mentioned would be cool.

Hehe and how do they respond? :p

“You’re welcome” usually.

Ah fair enough. I was expecting it to be an “I’m sorry” if they just woke up

I’ve always thought ATC comms were missing a bit of a human note in IF.

One other little thing that would be fun, would be a select few greetings in local languages:

Buenos Dias/Tardes
Aloha
Bonjour
Konnichiwa and so on.

It might take a bit of work/be confusing to some, but personally it would help add to the immersion in non-English speaking parts of the world.

That is the beauty of such simple commands, you can be super passive aggressive. lol

Great idea!

Inclusivity would be a great thing but I think you’d find trouble with the TTS on iOS and Android given that they’re somewhat skewered in favour of (American!!) English

Ahaha but that’s the fun of it!
Ever heard a Delta pilot going into somewhere in Latin America greet ATC with a thick southern drawl? Comes out as Buwaynos diiiiazzzz!

But in all seriousness, basic greetings would be a great start.

Remind me not to get on the wrong side of you :p

Hehe really? I guess I’m used to the perhaps too correct way of speaking English that comes with an RP accent
