Hey y’all. I know how to use the approach mood on the aircraft. But when do I activate the auto land. Because every time I hit the APPR button the plane goes up on its own and still lands fine but I don’t want it going up.
I don’t use APPR at all as I think it is cheating.
But if I use it, I would activate it after lined up on the localizer and right when I hit the glide-slope.
When ever you are estabalished on the ILS. But I havent used APPR since like pre global soo.
I know there is an APPR tutorial. Just can’t seem to put my finger on it to link it however I do agree with @Kevin_Potthast nothing better than hand flying the aircraft.
APPR will take you onto the ILS. Your plane would have gone upwards as you were most likely below the glide scope so it bought you up to it.
Ok so what is the altitude that I activate it?
This is not the tutorial you were looking for…

Good topic, I actually have a similar issue. I’m on the glideslope and aligned with the runway. Then I hit APPR. The plane does a 10° bank to the left or right, then lines itself back up again. Why does this happen?
Hey Tyler!
On your HUD there’s a little indicator. This is called the glideslope indicator. You want to activate APPR when the little arrow is pointing to one of the dots, or in between two dots. It’s best to do it when pointing to the rectangle. For more about the glideslope, you can read here.
That’s the reason I don’t use APPR. Even if you’re lined up and fully established on the localizer, the plane will do some weird movements after activating APPR.
It’s much more fun flying an Approach manually as well 😉
What if ur visibility is reduced to like a 100 ft?
It’s all explained here

It’s still possible to land manually. Very challenging, but possible. But if there’s really no chance, I’d use it under those circumstances. Happens rarely though. I like training this situation in Solo. It’s a lot of fun.
If your are exactly established on the glide slope plane will try to capture whether making it either ascend or descend.
You have to be on the glidescope. You actually don’t have to be exactly on the localizer, just on an appropriate intercept course.
Try activating at 3000 feet. Like someone else said line everything before you do and it won’t move up.
2 links to tutorials in one post? Surely you jest…
That’s what happens when the OP has this topic and a PM with said Mod going that the same time.
Crucify me now for I have forum sinned.
