A350 shaking a lot during climb despite normal wind speeds

Apple iPhone 13 Pro
iOS 18.4.1
A350 beginning to shake violently during climb despite normal winds. Literally did a barrel roll and stalled seven times. Almost crashed.

Was this straight after takeoff or a little bit after. What altitude were you at when this started happening?

  1. Was autopilot engaged?
  2. What stage of flight?
  3. What altitude and airspeed?
  4. If you were heavy, did you just climb straight to your cruise altitude?
  5. Were you calibrated?

Lots of things could’ve contributed to something like this. The more information we have, the better we can understand and figure it out.

Remember wind changes every few feet you climb.

I’ll reply to you in about 20-25 minutes. This issue happened at the start of the flight I’m doing right now. Should land in 18 and a half minutes and I’ll find the replay. I know for sure autopilot was engaged, I was in my climb. I was over MLW and I tried climbing to FL400 but then the issue came out and I lowered my cruising altitude to FL320

Alright. The aircraft was at 29,090 ft when the shaking began. I was at 312 ground speed and I had a vs of 1400 fpm

Probably because of your weight.

29000 ft wont do that it he was over mlw it would prob be like FL320-FL340 rangle

What’s your current speed in mach?

312 ground speed can vary depend on the winds but that seems slow - what was you air speed as that gives us a better indication? (Will be mach number at that altitude)

The cruise speed is 0.85 for it (see https://flightsmart.github.io/)

Hi there,
GS is of no value when airborne. What matters is IAS only. To see if you were too slow, we need to know your weight and IAS.

This should give you about 500 ground speed depending on winds, if you’re wondering

How do I check out airspeed in replay mode?

You should be able to see it on the HUD view.

thanks a lot! will check!

Alright, I was at around 170-180 knots from the wind.

If youre flying at that speed, then you might be a bit too slow. Usually, it would be around 230

Shaking during climbing is because of low AIS of your plane when the aircraft is heavy. As said by benny above you can see that in the HUD view or in the status bar below .
So while climbing you should increase your speed till 250kts under 10000ft and then till the cruise speed when you reach at your cruising altitude gradually.
During the climb you should check the AIS not GS.

Surprised how my aircraft burned that speed easily. I was going at a good 250 knots before.

how fast were you climbing
