I have always had issues with the airbus a350 and a330-300/neo whenever doing a flight. no matter what weight, height, speed or whatever, the plane somehow starts to sway from side to side, and eventually stall and fall out of the sky. this is very annoying, because it essentially means i cannot fly the a350 or a330, and it’s a fun plane to fly. to clarify, this ONLY happens with the a350 and a330. no other plane. does anyone have a fix for this?
Fly at lower altitudes at the start of your flight. Just wait for the fuel to burn of to reach a higher altitude. Search online for the cruise speeds. A slow climb might be required.
What’s your cruise speed that you use for either of these aircraft? The A359 should cruise at M0.85 and the A333 at M0.80 to 0.82. Like others have said, I’d suggest starting your flights at lower altitudes and climb rates to help out with your stalling issue.
Agreed, happens a lot with A330 for me, so I avoid it. Even at 28ooo feet, with around half load, with 500fpm, it stalls. A longer range aircraft like the A330 should manage that, I thought
The A330 can handle that. The concern is whether or not your rate of climb prior to reaching 28,000 feet was high enough where airspeed started to bleed and eventually leads to an angle of attack that’s high enough where a stall is imminent.
You’re best off levelling off at about 10,000 feet to gain some speed, then once you’re settled at about 300 knots, begin climbing to reach your cruise altitude.
This is also done in the real world where Airbus, with their thrust set to climb, will speed up before proceeding with their climb in their open climb setting.
The A350-900 has been the easiest aircraft to fly in IF for me and I could even rise with a rate of 4500FPM on auto but the A330 hasnt been flown in my case for 3 weeks. That was when I was doing some approaches and trying to butter it.
One trick i do is once i hit 10k feet increase speed to 310kts and make sure your rate ol climb is 200VS that way the plane is not working like an animal.
The A330 isn’t the best at climbing quickly. When at heavy loads, try to not exceed 90% N1 when climbing (may be unavoidable at higher altitudes like fl280+ but that’s ok.) Like others have mentioned, leveling off at 10000ft and increasing your speed will help a lot in the A330. The A330 takes a decent amount of skill to fly properly, it is not a 757, it can’t climb at 4000fpm.
Don’t sleep until you have reached your cruising altitude. Many more things can go wrong on the way to your cruising altitude than at the cruising altitude.
