A330 Struggling For Power

Want me to send it as well? As it happened to me too.

Please refer to @AndrewWu 's guide [Updated] Reworked A330 Full Performance Analysis and Fuel Guide

Sure. Along with the approximate weight that you took off with. I haven’t had this happen to me and have been able do do a 14hr flight without anything like this. So it’s a bit strange. šŸ™‚

That doesn’t have a dedicated maximum altitude for weights thing which is what I’m testing now

Ok will do

Oh… my bad hehe

Please take the convo elsewhere while I wait for the replays from these fine folks. Thank you.

I noticed this as well. The engines dont seem that powerful and when I climb, my engines are at max power. This is accurate however, the A330 is a somewhat of weak plane compared to the 787/A350. I think the best solution would be to climb with a very low VS.

Interesting maybe too high VS was the problem.

Hmm what was it at?

I never go over +2,400 V/S when climbing with the A330
Last night I was flying it and it really struggled to take off from ZMUB despite a really light load, I was close to overrunning the runway even

Moved this topic out of support and into general.

Need to reiterate that you guys need to step climb and start at a lower altitude.

  • Darting straight up to FL390 on a overnighted will not work if you’re heavy.

  • Climbing at rates for which you aircraft cannot maintain needs to be carefully monitored.

  • Remember to shallow out your climb rate as you are within a few thousand feet of your initial cruise altitude.

Important reminder is that we will not be removing violations for such situations. As pilots you are ultimately responsible for the state of your aircraft. If that meant you stalled it in high cruise, that’s not an issue with the app and unfortunately we cannot remove those.

That’s exactly right. I’ve even provided general vertical speeds that you guys should aim for in the doc below. Follow these rough estimates and you won’t stall when you get to cruise.

See ā€œClimb Rateā€ section

Seems like a common theme for airbus planes to be underpowered.

Just climb slowly and stop climbing every once in a while to build speed

I did do that,my load was just 40 percent,and I did step-climb to FL-380,and after FL-280 I climbed at just 500 VS,yet my plane stalled….šŸ˜•

Thanks for the excellent resource!

380 is still likely too high. In a case like that, I would’ve aimed for 340 or 360

Shoot for FL360 or 340

Nah I’d say even that is too high. Start off at FL300 and work yer way up

Honestly, a lot of it is trial and error, and I’d encourage the solo mode to play around with its limits so that you don’t get penalized. But play around with the weights at altitude because you can do that, and see what alt you can get with a given weight.
