A330 Leading Edge/Flap Pods question

Hello IFC,

Recently when browsing photos on JetPhotos I found that the flap pods on the A332 (and possibly A333) have different sizes. I’m not sure why they would be different, so I am asking you all here.

On Capital Airlines, notice how in the fully flaps down configuration, the leading edge/flap pods are shorter at the ends

On Air China, notice how the the leading edge/flap pods are more extended at the end of the flaps

Please note these are all in the -243 type.

Please answer if you could!

They honestly look the same on all varieties. It comes down to where you’re viewing it from. I don’t see why the flaps would be different on any of them unless there is a significant difference in performance, however, all the A330s use the same wing (the one difference that can be found is on the neo, but that’s only the wingtip portion).

I noticed it, they are on the same view just on opposite sides. I noticed that some are shorter

I see what you mean, maybe one model is just older?

Air China, B-6131, is older fyi

Then that might be the original production version

Maybe Airbus added a few revisions, I understand the tail height was shortened for example
