And them you remember that the 737 was added almost 10 years ago
Huh. I didn’t know that. That shouldn’t change development of the aircraft since they all have 2 engine options.
You know what would be funny is if the developers did the entire A320 family instead of just the Neos. The ceo only has different engines as far as I aware. I’ve known that the flaps are slightly different on each type but other than that, they’re practically the same
The B737 8 max and 8-200 was different as it was one door. And on paper, they’re exactly the same. Indeed.
Highly subjective and I don’t see what that has to do with a decision between two narrow bodies.
I mean, purely seen the A320neo and A321neo variant are as similar as their 2 ceo variants (outside the neo part), only the LR changes that, with the new wing. And the XLR with the added fuel tanks.
It’s not the fashion of IF to set 2 different aircraft types in one category. Because on paper the A321neo, XLR and LR are all different.
I even asked them about it some days ago in the B737 Max Series thread, and the answer to it was:
But as a category in it’s whole it’s still the same airplane. The 737max8. This isn’t the case with the A321neo variants
They already made the 737-700 and BBJ the same category which both are actually quite different. They’re also doing it with the Max 8 and 200 so the A321neo family being one category isn’t a bad idea. Let’s not forget all the different exit door layouts on the A321. Last I check, the A321neo family has like a dozen types with all minor variations
I would agree with the A321neo and XLR, but disagree with the LR. Because the LR is a bit too different to paint over.
I guess if they just choose one fuselage layout then everything would be fine. Altered flaps and engines are pretty straightforward
To keep it realistic this should be about the A320neo and A321neo (not the family) as that only complicates things out of a devs’ view.
Again, 10 years ago they made that because it wasn’t too easy to just add a few variants for the “same kind of plane”. They even spoke more recently about this saying that they woud not to this again.
As long as i can find, there aren’t any MAJOR diferences between them, only the extra door that can be added as a part of the livery.
And that is what I meant between the A321neo and the LR variant. It’s just a bit too different to include.
I mainly use that term to include all the liveries on the A321neo/lr/xlr. There is also 2 feature requests for the A321neo that make things confusing.
Why did Airbus have to make this much variety for one plane? It just over complicate things lol
It’s not about airbus overcomplicating, it’s about us making things too complicated. It’s the best to keep those variants seperate.
I think its because there was an empty market between the Max 8 and the B757-200 that Airbus saw and took the opportunity to fill it, just like Boeing did it a few times in the last century
If the A321neos are put into their own category, how would liveries by handled? Let’s use JetBlue as an example. They operate both the Neo and LR, but the liveries on both are the same (Mint Squares livery). Would you just add one and hope the community doesn’t complain or both and have the same livery on a slightly different aircraft?
Also in their own request as corresponding to the aircraft type. It’s tedious but should be the best option (or perhaps combine the livery request if they’re the same.) The best is to add 2 but I don’t know how IF would do this tbh.
I’d just have the A321XLR added and have the liveries from the entire A321neo family added to that one aircraft. It may not satisfy everyone to have the aircraft be slightly different from the LR, but it does reduce the amount of extra work on the developers if the LR was made into its own category.
I’m not sure how to go about this so I’m going to do something that’ll help decide this
Is the A321neo XLR that popular compared irl to the standard A321neo? Just asking?
