Leg 50 — 🇪🇨 Ecuador / Quito 🇪🇨
Located in between Peru and Colombia we find our next country located right on the equator Ecuador. Ecuador is one of the most unique countries in the world for how much it offers compared to its size. From jungles, to deserts, tropical beaches, and even snow caped volcanos reaching high in the sky, all can be found in this country roughly the size of Arizona. The biggest city is Guayaquil located by the coast however the countries capital Quito is located 8,000ft above sea level and is the closest capital city to the equator. Speaking of elevation, Ecuador has the farthest point on earth away from the core being the peak of Chimborazo due to its proximity to the equator and its hight of 20,500ft above sea level. However Ecuador is most famous for its biodiversity being located on the Amazon Jungle and being home to the world famous Galapagos Islands off the coast in the Pacific, home to the worlds oldest living tortoises, sea iguanas, and the only penguins who live in the northern hemisphere.
