A Whole New LGA

Major improvements are being made to LaGuardia Airport - and they seem to be succeeding!

What is included in this renovation?

A new Concourse with 12 more gates is being opened this weekend, says NY Governor, Andrew Cuomo. This new Concourse should be exceptionally better than the current four. The ceiling will be 55 feet high! Much more than how high they are as of now. These new gates will come with even more dining and shopping options for the passengers! More brand-new features include:

  • New restaurants that deliver food directly to your gate
  • A playground for children with an interactive wall of departing aircraft
  • A Spa and Make-Up store
  • Rail service between LGA and Midtown Manhattan
  • 14 miles of new roadways connecting motorists to the renovated airport

Governor Andrew Cuomo stated: “The ongoing work will transform an aging, crowded, and inefficient airport into a 21st century facility worthy of the state of New York.”

What is the rail service? Subway, LIRR branch, an AirTrain style thing?

I can’t be too sure yet. I suppose it might be an AirTrain, just because they are also proposing an idea of having an AirTrain here at LGA. But who knows yet? We will find out soon enough…

I’m going to guess it’ll be a LIRR or AirTrain branch to Jamaica Station. The subway doesn’t run that far to LGA.

Sorry, but what does this have to do with LGA?

For those curious, the current proposal calls for an AirTrain from all of LGA’s terminals to the Mets-Willets Point (7) station where passengers can transfer to the (7) towards Manhattan.

Maybe they’ll extend the AirTrain to @RTG113’s [part of the world ¯_(ツ)_/¯
