A Stunning San Francisco Sunset From the Southern California Desert

Palm Springs to San Francisco

A few days ago, San Francisco was the main featured airport with other SoCal smaller airports featured. I decided to fly to San Fran from Palm Springs just because of the amazing views throughout the flight of Central California. I took off just after 9:30 PM Eastern which timed my arrival in San Francisco for sunset. I always love the approach into San Francisco especially at sunset, and it definitely didn’t disappoint. United and Alaska both fly this route, Alaska uses the E175 operates by SkyWest, but I decided to use the CRJ-700 which they retired a few years ago. Flight time was 1 hour and 10 minutes

Rolling down the runway as a Delta 777-200 taxies our for Atlanta after sitting in Palm Springs storage for months

Rotating off of the black asphalt in the Californian desert

Climbing out in front of the sandy beige mountains

31,000 feet above the mountains of Central California

Just Before starting our descent we pass the famous and always amazing Monterey Peninsula

Not much is better than mountains and sunset as approach vectors us toward the bay

The Gear go down as the moon goes up as we cross the San Mateo Bridge

SkyWest 3400 cleared to land Runway 28L. It’s Hard to focus on the approach when looking at the amazing sunset off the Pacific coast

Taxiing to the gate past a United 777 with engine the size of our tiny fuselage

As always please let me know your thoughts and your favorite photo!

Palm Springs has more what per capita than anywhere else in the United States?

  • Cacti
  • Pools
  • Watermelons

@Planeviation I love PSP too and I definitely want to fly in more. I also have no clue what the 772 was doing, at first he taxied to the wrong end of the runway. And he had a DLVA Callsign. I was super confused about that 😂

@KindaTartySliceOfPie thanks! If you practice a lot they get easy to do. I’ve been doing this for a year so it’s Easy for me!

@John19 I might have to watch that movie now! And the flight was nice and smooth… the landing was a different story though lol

@Aero thanks! I like it too besides that angle of approach. Nose diving into the bay 🤣

@yoshi_flyer thanks! It gets easy to edit when I’ve been taking screenshots like this for a year! You learn what looks good and what doesn’t.

@CaptainLeo1 thank you!

@A_Plane_Guy uhhh San Francisco Tower. Mayday, mayday, mayday. I didn’t notice that but it definitely looks like it’s on fire 😂. And thanks! If it looks postercard worthy then I’m happy

@Ur_Friendly_Approach thanks! That means a lot, I was really happy with how these turned out, especially since I don’t post the CRJ often. And I’ll try to have the El Al post soon!
