Departure Airport: Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL/KATL)

Boarding at the world’s busiest airport

With only 22 seats filled, we were in the air in no time

Leaving the Atlanta Metro area, the largest in the American Southeast, behind as we head out over farmland

Our route today roughly follows I-185 which connects Atlanta with our destination city of Columbus in about 90 minutes

After only a few minutes at 16,000 feet, it’s time to begin our descent over LaGrange, home to Georgia’s oldest college

We’re briefly dipping into Alabama on base for Runway 6

Crossing back into the Peach State on final

Despite the clear skies, in about an hour, some violent storms would be rolling through the area. Ahead of them were some gusty winds, which made for an interesting landing

Parked at Columbus’ only jetbridge. We’re hoping for an expeditious turnaround to make it out before the weather hits.

About 66% faster than driving at least.

Believe it or not, Delta (Connection) has even shorter flights. Atlanta → Columbus is the third shortest, while Rochester → Minneapolis is second shortest at 76 miles and Detroit → Lansing is first at 74 miles.

It depends on a multitude of factors, but it seems like it’s usually right around 20 minutes. MSP → RST is often shorter time wise because of routing - this morning, they did the flight in just 17 minutes.
