A safer, more welcoming community

This is a great new feature. Maybe Discourse should add an NSFW warning on these types of flagged posts.

So who decides weather or not the dialogue is PC or not? ā€¦ Iā€™ll just steer clear of IFC forum for awhile, this is UN american!

The system simply detects profanity, vulgar words, etc. Also, this is a global platform. Americans arenā€™t the only ones here. šŸ˜‰

This is a great idea! Although I do not understand why does this have to be implemented in the direct messages? For many people thatā€™s a more behind closed doors communication method, if it really was an issue you could just manually flag the message.

Absolutely! This is a great thing. Happy to uphold the communities high standards and positive environment.

Thanks for the update team! Keep up the great work!

Great job guys!

This is a very good idea! I highly support and especially I see everyday the concerns of younger kids on social media with little control. This will improve IFC highly. Great job

Out of curiosity and keeping to the respect and understanding of the age variety that IFC boasts. I know regulations are regulations but what is to stop this from being abused for example constructive criticism, lecturing to better the person or provide advice as being flagged by someone as being mean? I understand regulations trust me but Iā€™ve also seen and experienced others cheat that system in the long run.

Constructive criticism doesnā€™t mean you have to use bad languageā€¦

One thing I do have a question about, if the so called ā€œbad wordsā€ are censored out by something like * would the system know or does the whole word have to be typed out

Also, does this new system apply to PMs as well

True but not using bad language doesnt have to be fully associated with being mean. Some others consider tone of voice to indicate being mean. Granted you canā€™t tell emotions through text.

Is HE double toothpick allowed?
I say toothpick and not hockey sticks because I suport proper grammar.

Thank you so much to all the staff and moderators for this, I have seen and have been given bad posts in the past and itā€™s just so annoying, this will definitely make the community a better and more enjoyable place.

Hope officials of IF can bear all criticisms instead of banning. Definitely every body must care for words using for his/her posts.
