I understand that there are many free aircrafts to choose from but, we are yet to receive a free twin engine long-haul aircraft. The a321 fills up the role for a single isle twin engine medium range aircraft but, the gap between it and the larger free aircraft after it being the 744 is prominent . A quad engine long-hauler is available but, for recent years the twin engine long-haul aircraft’s take up the skies. I feel that for newer or the free to play player base desires an aircraft such as a free variant of the 777, 787, a330 or the a350. The free to play airliner base has almost every category such as the crj200 for domestic or regional routes, the 717 or 737 for small ranged aircraft, the a321 for the medium range applications, a long-haul quad jet such as the 747 but, lacks the most prominent type of aircraft said to be the long-haul twin engine aircraft.
I hope this request is taken into notice. This is nothing but a point out to a prominent gap within the large free to play player base.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. While it’s true that there is not currently a free twin-engined, long haul aircraft - making aircraft that take several months of detailed work to develop, free isn’t feasible. Each aircraft requires significant resources to make - which does come at a cost.
In fact, Jason has mentioned previously that the number of free planes is likely to decrease further as they get reworked - “to likely one or two from each category - GA, airliner, military” (quoted from Discord)
I was gonna say that too. I think like the biggest map range is probably California which is like 1hr 30 minutes maybe. There’s not much you can do with a long haul there.
That’s a great point that I didn’t really think about. Thinking of something new, I believe a rotation system should be introduced. For instance changing the aircraft’s once each two months along with the zones. I’m saying this on behalf of some free to play friends that have quit over a period of time as it was getting quite repetitive.
The free version is supposed to be essentially a free trial of the app to see whether you like it - as a business they naturally want people to get the Pro subscription. So therefore they make the free version as minimal as possible.
They are fully aware subscriptions aren’t for everyone - which is why they don’t force you to buy it.
I might add that with the latest update, it is now possible to rent an aircraft for 24 hours, along with multiplayer and global scenery. Meaning you could rent for a small fee (cheaper than PRO) any long-haul aircraft and fly it around the world. And once you land, you can fly anywhere you want with the free aircraft options for the remaining of the 24 hours rental period.
What zones and aircrafts are you considering adding to this new rotation though? I don’t think they’d consider giving people pro aircraft to try, unless maybe you’re implying the other legacy aircrafts. For the zones, they basically let you fly on each continent, so what new regions in the continents would they swap in the rotation?
Suggesting the a340,767 and a330f. The current zones are very solid. Maybe replacing the African zone to Egypt from South Africa or perhaps Spain to Russia. The zones are pretty flexible. I feel like the current ones are too good to be free.
I agree with including other jets and military aircraft under legacy to boost numbers. However, I don’t see why some legacy planes are still pro-only when they don’t meet current game standards. Dropping them to non-pro wouldn’t hurt pro subscriptions since they aren’t high-quality or most-wanted. It would just give non-pro users more options and make the game less restrictive. For regions, I’d like to see areas like the Caribbean, parts of the mid and eastern U.S., Canada, Korea, and even Antarctica. They could rotate a few selected regions weekly to keep things fresh and fair.
Completely logical words right there. The subscribers hardly use those aircraft and pay attention at all to them. I don’t remember the last time seing any of those around. The free to play players would be very happy with additional aircraft. It would also bring more visits. I also feel that at least one newer aircraft should be free. Maybe the 777lr. It’s the least used variant of the 777. One variant wouldn’t hurt. The new a380 is the most appealing aircraft out of the bunch in recent days. Giving a taste of premium quality could gain the desire to buy premium. They could make a rotation system for these aircraft that aren’t very appealing among pro servers as all of them combined would be too much to ask for. As you said they can add the regions to make the game feel more up to date as many players start to loose interest after playing the less frequent larger updates for a while and taking a short leave as it is repetitive. I feel like the really old planes such as the spitfire are only available to make free seem more appealing and make the quantity of free aircraft more. No one really uses those aircraft anymore and should be taken out to make room for a fresher more appealing version of infinite flight.
I didn’t mention the a380 for free. That would be illogical and absurd. I was talking about the 777lr because less people use it on premium as the a380 steals the show.
I completely understand your desire for more free aircraft and regions to enhance the experience for non-subscribers. However, it’s important to recognise that Infinite Flight is a business, and offering high-quality aircraft as well as different and more expansive regions requires a lot of resources which incur substantial costs - it simply isn’t feasible to offer things like the newer planes for free.
The current free version serves as an introduction to the simulator, its not necessarily intended to be something people stick with long-term, with the idea that one will eventually purchase the Pro Subscription or the recently introduced 24-hour aircraft rentals (only available in certain regions though atm). This business model ensures the continued development of the sim.
I’m using this to prove why my suggestion works. In business, high quality means higher prices (e.g., pro users buying subscriptions), while lower-quality options cater to budget users (e.g., non-pro users with legacy aircraft or rentals). Legacy aircraft = low quality = low profit, making them inefficient to keep as-is. Reallocating them to non-pro users provides value without diminishing the pro experience, as these aircraft are less appealing compared to newer, high-quality ones.
This concept parallels airlines retiring A380s early because low payload (less demand) = less profit = retirement/scrapping/selling. Infinite Flight could adopt a similar strategy. Legacy planes will eventually get reworks (e.g., the 767, based on votes), increasing their value later. For now, giving them to non-pro users fills a gap and potentially draws in new subscribers by introducing them to the game.
I fully acknowledge the immense work the developers have put into Infinite Flight over the past year—introducing three new aircraft, numerous UI changes, and other innovative features. These updates were undoubtedly time-consuming and challenging to implement. My suggestion aims to complement this hard work by offering a practical way to improve engagement without requiring the same level of complexity or resources as these large-scale projects.
As for map updates, most 3D buildings and scenery are already modeled. Coders could create new map boundaries that switch at set times, replacing old ones. This would provide variety and increase engagement while maintaining the limits Infinite Flight sets for non-pro users. While this would take some investment of time and money, it could be supported through pro subscriptions, which already fund the game’s updates, making this accessible for all players.
Ultimately, this approach gives non-pro users a taste of Infinite Flight, making them more likely to explore premium content—flying better, more realistic aircraft and experiencing the world in greater detail. It respects the devs’ incredible efforts while offering a practical way to expand the game’s reach and profitability.
These arguments seem to boil down to “If you give me more things for free, other people will pay more. Not me, of course, but someone. Trust me.” Somehow this is supposed to be “fair” – I’m not sure how this is fair to the developers who actually work on the stuff, and are now being asked to give more away for free… but perhaps you have an explanation.
The Features category is the right place to request this. There might be an existing request out there you can vote for, or you can make your own.
