Today at the Zhuhai Airshow in China, Russia and China just revealed a concept design that the two nations are working on. The aircraft, marketed as the CR929 is a long-range aircraft expected to make its maiden flight in 2023.
The aircraft looks strikingly similar to the Airbus A350 in both shape and design. The aircraft has a full LED screen cockpit and has a sidestick, rather than a yoke, again similar to Airbus Aircraft.
My opinion
It’ll be quite interesting to see a brand new long-haul aircraft enter the market and compete alongside the giants with the likes of Airbus and Boeing. It’ll also be interesting to see which airlines decide to use this aircraft, and how it is welcomed to the market.
But on a serious note, it’ll be interesting to see how well they will compete against the Manufacturer giants, Airbus and Boeing. Those 2 clearly are dominating but how bright does the future look for them is a whole another story to unfold…
I can see where you are coming from, but I think if it were the whole body of the aircraft that looked like a 787 or an A350, then there could be some issues, but it don’t know.
Great to see a plane from a different manufacturer other than Airbus It Boeing.
I think the big issue is that the know nothing consumers hear they are on a boeing, or Airbus, and know the brand. They just arnt going to have the same trust in this
China is known for making replica like cars, especially from European companies, that are not very popular(there best replica, for some reason, looks almost exactly like a Land Rover Evoque). This plane is literally a replica of the Airbus A350 or Boeing 787.
Chinese aviation industry is finally growing. They have made the ARJ21 and the C919.
I’m looking forward to the next one.
People say China just keep copying other countries, I have been trying to deny that, but the C929 really looks like the 787
