One of the things the new forum UI changes introduced was the sidebar. This is a cool way I found to use it:
I have my sidebar set up with links to important topics, in this case with aircraft profiles. This is very helpful for when I’m flying and need to pull up a topic fast or organise a bunch of important topics in one place.
Another thing I find cool is that you can link web pages outside of the IFC. Here I have it set up for websites I normally use while flying:
The way you get this is through the little plus icon at the bottom.
once you click it you should see a page that looks like this:
There you can add a title, an icon and a link to it. Once you hit save you can also move the links around by just clicking and dragging.
If you ever need to edit a section, you can just hover over the section title and a little edit button should pop up.
Now you might be asking: Why can’t you just use the bookmark future?
Well for one it is way faster to access. At the maximum, it takes 2 clicks to get to the topic you need, instead of navigating to a whole new page. The sidebar also is a lot more organised with its collapsable categories and icons. The fact that the sidebar can link to outside pages makes it a way better option for me.
Feel free to lmk what you think or share how you customized your sidebar!
