A new airline has been announced today by Nolinor Aviation that will be based in Montreal like the rest of their fleet. It is called OWG, and will fly mostly to southern destinations, unlike their parent company’s far northern network. It will operate a fleet of 737-400s, having just been delivered the first out of three on June 25th, registration C-GGWX. The airline has been a project for about 2 years now.
OWG stands for “Off We Go” as a way of comforting passengers, especially since that is the goal of the new airline venture. The first flight of the airline is scheduled to be in about 55 days, despite gaining approval to start international flights yesterday.
Sure is an interesting time to announce a new airline! How do you think they will cope with the current industry/economy that they are being “born” into? Do you see a chance of success for them? If so, how?
I see this as a great opportunity, as when Canada starts to open up in greater amounts, people will want to go places, especially away from the cold (though, Canada isn’t that cold in the summer), after being locked up in their homes for 3 or 4 months.
