It’s been a minute since I last posted a spotting topic. But there may be a reason for that. It’s actually because CMH gets such little traffic, the last couple times I’ve gone out there’s no reason to make a topic for the one thing I went out to see.
So I’m making this topic to serve as a collection of the trips I’ve taken in the last couple months so it’s not totally boring.
Going all the way back to December for this one, gates A2-4 at CMH provide for neat long exposure shots when the aircraft are pushed back. Every time a special is scheduled to depart after sunset, I find myself out going to grab it.
Lowkey forgot the winter light on the north runway is goated, and more aircraft use it for departure than I thought. Here’s a madpup absolutely launching of 10L for a flight back to MSP.
We’ve reached winter break, where I got to go home to Phoenix for a much needed 2 weeks. Of course this meant an obligatory day trip to LAX because West Coast > East Coast.
Back in Columbus, when the sun is out and snow is on the ground, the light is insane which I’ve now learned for the first time. One of the positives of Winter.
A rare stacked afternoon arrival window with a crystal clear day in Winter? Clear the afternoon calendar.
Heavies in CMH? Impossible. A UA 772 coming in from DEN to take THE National Champion Buckeyes down to Atlanta for their game against ND.
All my homies hate high level cirrus clouds coming out of no where to ruin golden hour. Could’ve been generational.
Since I’ve been showing the good side of Winter, I’ll show what it’s like for 85% of the time. Snow spotting is cool, I guess?
Wish you had parked at A3 instead of 4, oh well.
