Hi all. After a long flight from EGLL - YSSY transit fron KLAX, I noticed that the world map is slightly different from real life. Eg the coastline is usually further behind than it shows on the map. My question is, would it be possible to have a satellite map feature which not only shows terrain, but also airport names? This would help new pilots to be able to navigate more easily as they learn the ropes and also I believe It would help pilots flying airliners to plan their fixings more accurately and calculate altitude more efficiently. This means that whilst a user is making a long flight, he won’t need to watch for terrain later in the flight.
It’s your lucky day! A reworked map is currently well into the development process and will probably be released in a not-so-far-away update.
Rlly? Noice
Moved this post to general as the #thirdparty:developer is for third party devs.
As @Dylan_M mentioned, coastlines are something that are improved in our upcoming reworked map :)
This should be OK with the next map that they will implement
Ok I cant wait
But will it include terrain information and progressive weather reports?
A terrain map is planned for a future update once it’s released, they are giving it a full rework. As for the weather only time will tell for that one. Have a read of this great article by Jason and Val on the rework.
