A blast to the past

When airlines merge, typically the livery of one of the airlines gets passed onto the other for example when Copa and Continental merged, Copa gained their signature livery which they still use to this day

Yeah, Copa didn’t “steal” the livery from United

In 2001, American Airlines merged with the struggling Trans World Airlines (TWA) and pretty much took over some of their aircraft and routes. In November 2015, a specific Boeing 737-800 which was only delivered in January 2013 was repainted to carry a special heritage livery honouring TWA.
