2021 IFVARB Summit

Day 1: Alcock & Brown Voyage // An Atlantic Crossing Event
Friday, July 9, 2021 - All Day Event

2021-07-09T04:00:00Z2021-07-10T03:59:00Z

The three-day IFVARB Summit event kicks off with a bang as we cross the Atlantic as a community. We celebrate our Virtual Airlines, Organizations, and everyone inbetween with a great event that brings together three major hubs on the western side, and three major hubs on the eastern side with an emphasis placed on the great new 3D hubs on Infinite Flight.

Who is Alcock & Brown?

When we think of crossing the Atlantic, many attribute the first piloted aircraft to cross being flown by Charles Lindbergh, but many fail to realize that the first crossing actually happened about eight years earlier, as John Alcock and Arthur Brown touched down on June of 1919 with the first-ever non-stop transatlantic flight. Lindbergh is credited with the first solo flight.

Departing at 1:45pm on June 14, Alcock and Brown departed St. John’s for their eventual destination of Clifden, Ireland (not the completely planned destination). The pilots had iced up instruments, failing heating suits, and a dense fog. The pair were lucky to survive as brief clearances in the sky helped the pilots navigate using the stars.

1

A destination airport for international travel, John F Kennedy International Airport is the 20th-busiest airport in the world and sixth busiest in the United States. More than 90 airlines operate out of JFK, with many major brand names in the aviation world calling JFK as hub, including American, Delta and Jet Blue.

2

Sitting 26 miles outside of Washington DC, Dulles is an international icon of an airport, serving as one of three major airports in the Baltimore-Washington area. KIAD is home to United Airlines, as is one of UA’s largest hub locations in the world.

One of the newest additions to the 3D airports on Infinite Flight, KCLT is host to an American Airlines hub, with great flight options to Europe, as well as destinations from within the US. CLT was established in the 1930’s as a municipal airport, and then expanded in 1954. The airport features four different runways, 3 running north/south, and has a planned expansion of a fourth parallel runway by 2030.

One of six international airports serving London, the two-runway facility a the second busiest international airport in the world and busiest in Europe. Founded in 1929, EGLL has grown to host more than 80 million passengers per year. Heathrow is host to British Airways and Virgin Atlantic hubs.

5

Nearly 500 thousand aircraft move in and out of LPFG each year, making it the ninth busiest in the world. It is also the busiest cargo airport in the European Union. LFPG is a hub for Air France and Fedex Express, while hosting as a focus city for Air France HoP!, easyJet and Vueling.

6

Acting as the second busiest airport in Germany, behind Frankfurt, EDDM is a major destination for many transatlantic stops, serving as a gateway destination to the middle east. Munich is host to Lufthansa as a hub, while serving as a focus city for Air Dolomiti, Condor, Eurowings and TUI fly Deutschland.

While sign ups for our official IFVARB Summit taking place on July 11 at LEMD will take place via the IFVARB site, members of our community are able to just “RVSP” as they choose on this thread! This thread will serve as more of an informational post with flight plans, ATC procedures, and miscellaneous information along the way!

We want to help spread the word, so a simple posting of your callsign, and the VA/VO’s you a part of will suffice!

Pilots are encouraged to make the trek across the pond as many times as they’d like during the event, and do not have to use the same VA/VO name that they registered with for the Summit finale. Pilots are free to use their various VA/VO liveries, or approved codeshare aircraft. This is a complete pilot, and VA/VO choice!

Hello!

If we have signed up for the finale event (Madrid) am I right in thinking if you’ve chosen the “Fly In” you can fly in from one of these destinations:

Arriving at EGLL
Arriving at LFPG
Arriving at EDDM

Then more information will be provided closer to the event?

Thanks
Jack

With the release of Charlotte as a new 3D airport on Infinite Flight, I have made the decision to switch out KORD with KCLT for departure airports for this Day 1 event!

Day 2 thread is going to be posted shortly as well!

Looking forward to flying with everyone!

Route Information Published

As just announced within the IFVARB Discord, the route information for Day 1 events has been published!

This event is a “fly as you please” event, meaning you do not have to sign up, or be a part of a VA to take part!. While we had planned and anticipated being a part of the Friday Night Flight tomorrow, unfortunately things didn’t work out that way. We will have ATC service at KCLT as a departure airport, as well as the opportunity for IFATC to staff the other airports once the FNF locations are full.

Looking forward to the next three days as part of the 2021 Summit!
