9.7 Inch IPad Pro

I have the 9.7 Inch IPad Pro which was released in 2016, I understand it is 8 years old. it used to be my dads but he never used it. My old IPad is dead since I put about 8k hours on infinite flight on it lol. But this one is old but hasn’t been used, yet it keeps crashing when I’m close to landing. Just was doing MIA-LHR and it crashed on leftdown wind and I loaded it back up since it saved and it did it again. Is this because it is an old IPad? What do you guys suggest. If this keeps happening I’ll invest in a new IPad in the next few weeks so this doesn’t keep happening.

Hey!

Had the same device myself a while back.
And yes, doing MIA-LHR on that one is not something I’d recommend. Long hauls on any device with 3GB RAM or less is pushing it these days (iPad Pro 9,7" 2016 have 2GB).

Would you recommend getting a new IPad then? I don’t need the newest one lol just something more practical so I can do these long hauls that I like to do, which one do you recommend?

My personal flying machine these days is an iPad Pro M1 (2021). Been working flawlessly. Not sure what the price are on those are these days but despite it being a few years now it still does the job splendidly.

Otherwise I would check this topic where people have reported their own personal experience with various devices:

Thank you. Yeah I don’t really wanna spend 1k more so the 600-800 range, You think there are some out there that are newer in that price range? This iPad will be solely for Infinite Flight

Look for the iPad Air 2024 perhaps? Goes for $599 in the US from what I can tell. I’m Swedish so that’s just what a simple Google search told me :)

Can confirm that the 2024 Air works well. It has the M2 chip with 8gb of RAM so it’s a good choice that doesn’t completely break the bank. You can get it a Best Buy right now for $600 +tax.

That’s probably the best thing on the market.

My iPhone 13 handles well on max graphics. With the M2 and 8gb of RAM, nothings in your way.
