787-8/10 rework

I know, 787-9 winned in voting for the rework, that’s cool, but it will be nice for 787-8/10 to have rework

As far as we know per the poll - it’s just the -9 receiving the rework. When you look at the operator list, the vast majority of -8 and -10 operators also operate the -9, so we won’t be losing out on much.

The thing is that means the editors will have to do 3 entire reworks instead of one, the more commonly used 787-9 please correct me if I’m wrong

It’s not just a matter of making the plane longer/shorter. The physics, performance and behaviour of all three variants is slightly different.

I mean waiting for three aircraft of the same family is worth the wait. As popular as the B777 series, we can see numerous of people utilizing all of the variants but on the cost of a year without new aircraft editions/reworks

Yea that’s what I meant too

This is the main point against doing all three variants - the time it would take to do them. It would mean community members wanting other things (myself included) would have to wait even longer. I think the approach they are doing is best, do the most popular variant, and if there is demand for the others, they can come back to them later down the line.

As far as operators go, we wouldn’t really be missing out on much.

The only thing we’d be “missing out on” is certain routes as some routes exclusively see different variants because of aircraft size restrictions

Yes but a single variant of each and popular family/series isnt gonna cut it, if you know what I mean. The same happend to the A359/A333/9 series where we got the either the bigger/popular variant which leaves a huge space. Atleast if they are not goona do a family, do add the remaining aircrafts as a rework for a family of aircrafts. Such as an example after the B789 rework, make the A35K, or even better the A332

I’m not sure you’re appreciating the time it takes to do a rework. It’s 6-9 months minimum. Also, what about those people who want to see other things that aren’t commercial jets? Are they supposed to just sit there while their favourite aircraft are just ignored?

Also the existing 787 exterior model is not actually that bad.

Then again, we have the other 787s, and they work just fine, the outside isn’t too bad, and it has the liveries. It’s not a super big problem. The 767 is another story. It’s an even older aircraft (both IF and IRL) and would need to be reworked too. I believe Dan said that they would rework the 767 after the 787, so I don’t see such a problem
