777X Skin For the 777 Family

777X Skin for the 777 Family

777X

Ok, I know what all you regulars out there are going to say, There isn’t enough information available to make an accurate flight model for the 777X. I know and hear me out. I am proposing a “Skin” for the 777 families already present in IF. You know like fortnite skins. Simply changing the appearance to match the 777X family in real life. This would be a compromise, rather than waiting about 5 years for an accurate flight model, use the 777 flight model, with an adapted appearance.

Similarities and Differences

Things That Would Need to Be Changed

  • Fuel Consumption Factor
  • Load Factor
  • Engine Thrust Output
  • Appearances (Wing, cockpit, ect.)
  • Maybe folding wingtips?

Things That would remain the Same

  • Flight Model
  • Physics
  • Anything else FDS does not have the information for.

Liveries

Now there aren’t that many 777X liveries so I would imagine FDS would be able to implement them all.

When would this be implemented?

I think the perfect time to introduce this to the game, is when the 777 gets a rework. The 777’s features are lacluster compared to the 787, A320, and MD-11/DC-10. Vote for the rework here

I think this is a great idea!

Great Idea! Although, based on my reading, I wouldn’t say its a skin. What I got is that you want like a 777X variant for the T7 family, but instead of having real T7X physics, you want to have it with the stock T7 flight model, then you propose it when the T7 Rework takes place, so you get a reworked T7 with a good flight model and a T7X with said reworked flight model.

A skin/livery wouldn’t come with completely different features, like folding wingtips, and a different external base appearance (cockpit, wing, etc).

But I may be wrong, and I could’ve misread.

I think this would work like how we have N851TB in the game but N851TB isn’t a TBM 930, it’s an 850.

Ooo, this could work, it’s not a new plane, but it’s a new family, nice job, I would vote but I’m out.

That… is an interesting idea. I like it.

Up to the staff to tell us if it’s possible or not though.

Definitely a seemingly simple solution to a very complex problem. I suppose the idea would be to replace it with a full rework in the future?

Or course, who doesn’t want the real 777X

You’re asking to put a 777X livery on a normal 777 aircraft?

no, Im saying keep the physics model the same, just make it look like the 777X aircraft.

Where’s the logic behind that? Plus you want them to do all this:

The developers might as well just make a separate 777X model.

While they’re at it, they should add elongated winglets to the 787 and create the A350 model from it too. Sorry, but I don’t agree with this feature. The simulator is supposed to emulate realism. Adding a livery fit for a specific aircraft onto another similarly looking aircraft as a compromise just doesn’t sit well with me. I can personally wait for the actual thing. Plus, the 777X is still years away from being in the skies.

It’s not a livery, but simply a placeholder. The A350 has been out for a couple years now, but we still don’t have it in IF. The most difficult part of making an aircraft is the flight model. So, while we wait for the accurate physics of the 777X to be released, why not just take the 777 flight model and modify the looks, so that it looks like a 777X. Fuel consumption, load, thrust, are all things FDS can change very quickly (i presume) because those are set variables. But if you don’t support it, you don’t. All I’m saying is a 777X looking 777, while we wait the long years for the accurate 777X to finally come to IF.

The team is small but is growing. Patience, my friend. Plus, we already have a new aircraft from this generation (787). I’d rather see the much older aircraft get reworked; this is for another discussion though.

So do all that complicated development on the unrealistic aircraft, just to remove it all later and make the real thing? That seems backwards, in my opinion, and is a waste of their precious time. It may seem like it’s all quick, but I can tell you it isn’t (and I’m not even a developer). Just make the 777X in the first place. Don’t take all these back roads and shortcuts just to have a “new” aircraft in game.

All in good respect though. I can wait for it whenever it comes. Not sure about you or others. Not even sure if I’ll be playing IF in 5 years. 🙂👍

Cheers!

I think the sim should be something like the racing game gran turismo, still being a realistic and engaging simulator but also having a touch of arcade character and manner.

On another note you’re right, the devs might aswell have made a whole new plane 😂

Yes! This is exactly what I was thinking, and luckily I found this post because I was going to post on this as well! Although the first 777-9 is a few years from first official delivery, this would be sick to have in game especially with the folding wing tips! Also the 777-10x! With the a380 getting older, the 777-10x is set to be the direct competitor of the A380 and it would be an awesome addition to have as IF continues to progress! Just look at its beauty!!!

777-10X? I have never heard of that. Also, I do agree with adding the 777X delivery to the 777, it might look weird, but I could get behind it.

Right now I believe the 10x is just proposed with them focusing on getting the first few 9s out in 2024, but trying to taxi with the 10x would present a pleasant challenge that I am looking forward to. It’s huge!

It’s not really a ‘skin’ if they are adding/changing features of the existing 777 family models, they might as well just make the 777X if they were to do this.

If they were to do it it would look unrealistic which is not what IF normally does when releasing a new aircraft model it would just not look right. It’s better to wait and see if they release a 777x in the future or not…

I dobut boeing will ever make a -10X as it’d only be able to replace 747-8s… maybe. A revised, probably shorter and updated 747-8 or 77W/MD-11 hybrid would be the “A380 replacement”

On another note I’m clearing up a vote for this because it needs to happen.

The 777-10x is going to happen. The 10x is planned to be 9 meters longer than the a380, 8 meters longer than the 777-300ER, and 5 meters longer than the 777-9, which isn’t much bigger. The proposal is to only stretch it by 4 rows.
