What airlines have orders as of now on the 77x?
Lufthansa, Cathay, ANA, Emirates, Etihad, Qatar, British, Singapore, and That’s it I believe right now, but there are rumors that Turkish and a few other airlines (can’t remember off the top of my head) are discussing whether they should purchase it or not
SIA and BA are onboard as well now^
Don’t forget to vote if you want to! ;)
I have a question about the 777X, and wonder if someone has the answer…
Would the pilots extend the wingtips fully just prior to takeoff, or would they wait till the aircraft is airborne?
The wings were designed to fold so they can fit today’s 777 airports and avoid what the A380 did, but since the aircraft is new, only test pilots or certified pilots can answer right now. My guess is that they would fold prior to takeoff and after landing, or be folded/unfolded at the gate.
They extend it just before take off… they use the folded wingtip to spare some space while taxiing
Boing suffered a major setback after there engines failed testing as a result of an engine “glitch”
Looks like Emirates would change their B777X orders.

Yep, adding more options and the 789 or 78X
The problem is due to quicker then expected deterioration in the compressor blades. Obviously it will be looked at and it may come down to a bad batch. This is normal and is nowhere near a major setback
Hey there @anon2063420, would you mind explaining why this is normal and not unusual?
“That delay is far longer than anyone was anticipating, including the leadership of Gulf carrier Emirates, the first customer of the 777X.”
They should tell there customers how normal it is before promising a delivery. Even Infinite Flight doesnt set definite dates.
Lufthansa hasn’t changed their orders yet even they are the Launch Customers for B777X (-9).
Delays in development are normal. Nearly every aircraft program goes over in development. There is nothing to be concerned about with timeline. A delay of around 3 additional months as they are proposing is nothing significant. Year delays yes month delays no
Its weird to think about how brilliant the engineers are and how much education that they have but yet seem to make a lot of mistakes along the way in aviation, perhaps engineering is still a discoverable science 🐣
GE9X delays yet again - they’ve pushed first flight back to next year and EIS likely around 2022 at this rate
Boeing has officially delayed the production of the B777-8
They want to focus on the B777X as it’s the competitor of the A350-1000.
Just a correction to avoid confusion here.
It’s called the 777x series with variants 777-8 and 777-9.
They will focus on the 777-9.
