I think I need to point something out that I think has alot of us a bit disappointed. So when there was a vote on which aircraft to be reworked next before the a380 rework alot of us, including myself thought that the 767-300ER would be reworked right after.
However that never ended up being the case. We are still waiting for the A350-1000s to be released as there are currently a good chunk of operators that use the type and varient. Not to mention if there are new operators of the type the devs team can always put in new liveries like they have done with current aircraft. So what is the big deal? Why is the A350-1000 not in the works when the A350-900 realeased?
Now you are probably thinking after reading the last paragraph “what does the A350-1000 have to do with skipping the 767-300ER rework?” Well it shows a pattern of unfinished work. Now I understand the development team is constantly working hard when it comes to reworking and adding new things to the sim. But if i am being honest I don’t want the 767-300ER being reworked after airlines completely retire the type. I am sure alot of you would agree. At least I hope you do.
Also the development team could easily add a popular freighter in the sim the 767-300F. All they would have to do really is after reworking the 767-300ER they would just rework the interior to have a freighter layout. I mean these are just some ideas. They could even add the 767-200 and 767-200F in future.
My guess is the development team doesn’t want to rework the 767-300ER because it opens up demand for other varients and then it creates more work on their part. Honestly the work that is done is absolutely amazing which is all the more reason the work should be continued not forgotten and skipped.
I really hope this inspires the development team to consider doing the 767-300ER change their ideas on sticking with only types that have 1 varient. Please don’t forget about the 767-300ER like American Airlines did during covid.
I wouldn’t call this false hope. He did say it would be taken into consideration in the future. Also keep in mind there are 2 “secret aircraft” under development. Please don’t get your hopes up again but it’s worth pointing that out.
It was stated multiple times at the time of this poll that the loser (the 767) would not be added to the development pipeline to be added afterwards, so I’m not entirely sure where everyone got this implication.
At the time there were basically no operators of the -1000 that we didn’t already have liveries for on the -900. So the developers evidently thought it wasn’t worth the extra time.
If you actually read it he said it would not be “automatically” added into the pipeline as they had to fucus on the A380 first which was a massive project.
Just because the 767 got 2nd place doesn’t automatically mean it’s in the works. This isn’t like the A330 and A220 poll that happened a couple years ago. Aircraft reworks and add ons are quite unpredictable when it comes to Infinite Flight
Exactly, there’s more important stuff to be added first, the 767 is a huge project as well, meanwhile stuff like the neos are smaller quicker and easier. It’s more of an endeavor to start that, would almost be like another a380 rework.
I think this is an important part of the point here. Most airlines have already retired their 767s, including, notably, American, British Airways, and Qantas within the past 4-6 years.
Though I, too, would love to see the 767 reworked, I am very excited for the Max, and soon after, the NEO. I’m sure the demand for flying either is going to be much higher than flying the 767.
The a321 xlr is a variant of the a321 Neo which is already coming to infinite flight. On the max they also are adding the max 8 -200, they’ll probably do that slight variation for the a321neo as well for the airlines that use it. As for the max 9 it’s been mentioned many times that it has a lot of the same operators as the max 8, and they won’t be adding it… so it’s highly unlikely.
Both new aircraft and reworks are done from scratch - so it takes the same window of time. Around 6-9 months typically as stated by Seb on the 737 MAX thread.
