737 Questions

I went to fly from KSEA TO KPDX today, and I had a really bad takeoff, due to early rotation, and a bad landing due to autopilot issues.

So two questions,

What is a 737 Vr speed, general estimate
And how do I disable AP so he plane doesn’t plummet?

Thanks

Calibrate just before you disengage the AP, and don’t forget to use trim! Sometimes, a quite substantial amount of trim is needed. I occasionally use up to 40-50%.

Regarding the VR question, i bet you can find some useful information in this topic:

I usually rotate at around 140kt in the 737 with flaps set to either 10 or 15. Depending on weight.
(I’m nothing but a ordinary pilot in Infinite Flight like most here, so IRL might be a totally different story. Just telling you what works for me.)

I’ve used the chart before, but when I use those speeds with the flaps on the chart, I can’t lift off, even though I calibrated my device. Normally, I rotate at 140 with 10 degree flaps. Is that high or low?

It totally depends on your weight. It’s one of the most important factors that you have to take into consideration.

I’ll add that standard IF puts you at a weight above MLW, so you probably have a higher weight than others here

Calibrate your device first before you disable the AutoPilot. If you don’t want to use trip, just pull back on your device as the disable the AP. Then slowly you will get the feeling of the plane

What was your callsign when you landed at KPDX?

@Chatta290 Oops did I do something wrong? Alaska 420

I doubt you committed a heinous act, your speed will come as you learn to make adjustments with trim and your speed will always very with conditions. That being said always look at your departure temp.

What were you flying? No of course not. Just want to know in case I remember seeing you

Along with what Sebastian said, I suggest disabling the AP one at a time. I.e. disable the altitude lock first, then when that is under control disable the heading. Makes it one less thing to worry about.

And if you still aren’t sure about the vr speed, what I usually do when testing a new weight config is take it on a practice run in solo mode, and find the right balance.so I don’t crash on Expert and embarrass myself

I would use 5 degrees of flaps for a 737 and rotate 140-160
