That’s probably the post that started it all. On May 19th 2015, Infinite Flight Community was shared in one of the biggest Infinite Flight Facebook communities. It officially opened a little over two weeks before that though on May 1st, 2015.
And Today, 4 years ago on May 10th 2015 I joined IFC. I used to be a beta tester for ATC back then and it was the time when the developers switched from a a Facebook Group to the IFC for everything beta related.
To be honest, I wasn’t a big fan of Discourse back then. I liked the way it worked on Facebook, but oh boy you proofed me wrong. It has been 4 years since I joined IFC. I took a break somewhere in the middle for around a year but then I returned and never left again.
Many things changed, many people came, many people left. But the most important things remained the same: It used to be and it still is a great community with great people who all share the same passion. I met some nice people here who I look forward to hopefully meet in person sometimes. The Meet-Up in London will finally be an opportunity for that and I’m really looking forward to it.
I want to take this opportunity and thank all Moderators and Staff members for their efforts. There’s always somebody around and in a community that large this is quite an accomplishment. I know, those appreciation posts aren’t always appreciated but maybe you can see this one here as a nostalgic post with a few tiny drops of appreciation, so it can work ;)
When I think back where I was 4 years ago, it’s interesting to see that while many things changed in my personal life as well (for the better and the worse), IFC is still here. Next year will mark our fifth anniversary and I’m hoping to see a couple more years.
Keep it up, keep it running, and thank you all.
Happy landings and a great day or night,
Marc
