Our hub, KLIA, is one of the largest and busiest airports in Southeast Asia and is the primary gateway to Malaysia. It is located approximately 45km away from the city center and, rather conveniently, is located adjacent to the Sepang International Circuit.
KLIA has 2 main terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. While both are within the same airport property, they each operate almost independently, with each terminal having dedicated runways and being segregated from each other.
Terminal 1 is the older, main terminal of KLIA, including the Satellite A building connected by the Aerotrain, an automated guideway transit system. The main building of Terminal 1 is shaped in a linear, pier-like design, with additional remote stands to boost capacity further. The main terminal is mainly used by Malaysia Airlines and Batik Malaysia. The Satellite A building is designed in a cross shape, mainly handling all other international traffic.
Terminal 2 (branded as klia2) is the newer terminal, designed in a linear, satellite-like design, with a passenger bridge connecting them. It is exclusively used for low-cost carriers, mainly AirAsia.
