It gives us great pleasure to reveal the first look of Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG ; ZSPD). With our legendary editor @Levet at the helm of the 2D and 3D objects placement, and my responsibility being to create all the 3D buildings, we set about our collaboration which has taken hundreds of hours and many many months to get this massive hub close to completion.
The airport is still in development with about 90-95% complete. Considering the official airport review timelines, this airport may not be ready in time for 22.7
With massive airports and limited polygon budget within which to complete the airport so as not to fry your devices, I have adjusted and reduced the number of certain reoccurring buildings such as pillars, columns and roof details while maintaining the original look wherever possible. Kindly do no expect the exact number of structures as in real-world. Thanks!
This is gonna be epic! I remember when I first had IF on my old account, I’d fly SFO-Shanghai every single day in the Delta A330! To be able to do this with a reworked A330, and both airports being 3D would be awesome!
The intricacies of those bldg layers, that is truely some impressive work. This major airport is turning out stunningly and magnificent. I keep studying it and each time I am impressed. I will definitely work to incorporate alot of these techniques with DFW. Amazing work on this build for sure. Keep up the hard work y’all! Cheers!🍻
I believe the real challenge with these monstrous airports is to execute the real-world design with the least amount of individual buildings, nodes, and overall poly count. With the talent and creativity you’ve already showcased with your airports, you’ll knock DFW out of the park for sure. All the best! ✌️
