Welcome to the 2nd annual Infinite Flight Olympics! I am honored to be running this incredible event again this year. We have made some big changes this year, that hopefully will allow for a seamless experience for you. Before we get into all the details, I would like to say a few things. There has a been a lot of preparation behind the scenes this year by the Infinite Flight Olympic Committee (IFOC), and I am very proud of the great team we have. @iceblue has always been a great help. He is truly the perfect guy to work on this. Hopefully you will be able to appreciate his work this year.
I have also assembled a wonderful team to help plan, create, moderate, and judge events. These guys have volunteered their time for the benefit of this event, and for the community. Expect lots of great work from @hubandspoke1, @B767fan, @JDE1303, @grxninesix, @dush19, and @Clement_Boisselier I also want to thank @Mark_Denton for making the medals and trophy as well as @Matt_Woolford for designing our gorgeous logo. All you guys are really a great help.
If you would like to help with event planning or judging please message me!
Now, all of that aside I want to announce a few new things we are doing this year. I haven’t talked to anybody about this yet, but I really want to go with a theme of peace and bonding. The Olympics in Rio this year helps convey this message well. The world is in a troubling state, even the forum is divided in some ways. These events will bring us all closer together. (Except Ryan Lochte, didn’t he get mugged?) Anyway, let’s all try and be a super good sport about everything, win or lose. We will not tolerate bad sportsmanship or anything of the sort.
Some more new things I would like to announce is the (organized) use of Google Forms. We had a suspicious lack of them last year, and this should help us stay organized a lot better. Expect at least two forms for the members, and three for team captains.
I am also extremely happy to announce that LiveFlight is the official tracker for the Olympics this year! @cameron and I have some cool things planned for Olympic participants! Stay tuned for more information on this!
Now let’s get into the nitty gritty. What are we doing this year? The Olympics will begin on November 1st with the Opening ceremony and Parade of Nations. The Olympics will last throughout the month. We have one or two events planned for each week, there will be 7 events total. November 30 will be the closing ceremony. Each event will be individually scored, and each event will have certain restrictions with players, etc. This year, we will announce all the events at once, and plenty in advance so you can prepare, instead of a weekly basis.
The Olympic website is very outdated and will be fixed up and ready to go in the upcoming days. Official standings will be posted there. (More to follow on this).
So, the server this year is still in discussion. I need to figure out if we are doing a private server like last year. Laura is on vacation so it will have to wait a few days. For those of you who don’t know, last year the Olympics we held on a hidden invite only server. This was to reduce the amount of trolls, and to have the perfect, uninterrupted environment we need. This will be (most likely) the same way this year. I will update you on this further later.
Teams! What do you need to know? Well, first of all, three teams have been claimed. Sweden, United States, and Great Britain. Anybody can create a team! This person should have good leadership skills, good management skills (that includes organization). And the team has to not be already claimed of course. Anybody can join a team! You may be on ONE team only. IFOC Staff members will not be competing. If you wish to create a team please message me! I will let you know if it has been taken already or not. It is recommended a solid form of communication be established.

We want to encourage member participation this year. To do this we may ask you for your input, ideas, or any issues you have. To start this off we would like your help on choosing the host region! Last year it was KLAX in Southern California. So we will not include that in this years poll. Please feel free to vote on a region below! We will choose the airport in the winning region. This poll will be open for one day. (23 hours, 56 minutes and 18 seconds)
- Sydney
- Kuala Lumpur
- Oshkosh
- Charlotte
- Chicago
- Amsterdam

That about wraps it up for now! Expect PLENTY of information to come. I’m super excited for what’s to come, and I can’t wait to see you all in November! Feel free to PM myself, or IceBlue with any questions or concerns about the IFO!
I truly wish you all the best,
Founder and IFOC President,
Thomas Galvin
