August is considered a winter month in Rio De Janeiro, but you would never know it. The weather is amazing at this time of year where the beaches are not as crowded, but the outside temperatures are hovering in the 70’s. Many travel sites mention it is the best time to go to Rio because of the weather, activities, and atmosphere.

Maracana Stadium is home to one of the best futbol countries in the world. Brazil International Futbol Club is a favorite every 4 years when the World Cup is held. Brazil is always considered a consistent threat to win the cup, and has produced numerous legends of the sport like Pele, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, and more. Take to the streets during the Rio Gastronomy event which showcases the best local restaurants, food trucks and food stalls for a week long festival involving the secrets of Rio’s cuisine. The massive festival also features outdoor concerts as well as cooking workshops. The event has numerous food types which can quench the taste buds of even the pickiest of eaters. The mix of spices and flavors are exceptional during this event and have attracted some of the world’s best chefs to study and learn about the food and flavors of Brasil.
Rock in Rio
Rock in Rio is one of the longest running and largest attended music festivals anywhere. It runs for 7 days with a break in between days 3 and 4. Some of the largest bands in the world perform at this festival along with smaller bands that have a global following. Bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Journey, Imagine Dragons, Travis Scott, Ed Shearin, Katy Perry, Shawn Mendes, Akon, Ne-Yo and Mariah Carey. Over 100,000 people turn out to attend this festival, which is now in its 40th year.
