Visit Scotland from Home! - 2020-05-24T16:00:00Z

Hello Infinite Flight Community! I would like to introduce you to my home country of Scotland, and what better way to do this than a flyout from one of our biggest airports. Glasgow International Airport (IATA: GLA; ICAO: EGPF), is the second biggest airport in Scotland, and lies around 10 miles west of Glasgow city. Last year, 8.8 million passengers travelled through Glasgow airport, with the biggest airline operating by passenger volume being easyJet, and the most routes being offered by Jet2. Glasgow primarily has routes inside the UK, and in Europe, however there are some airlines operating to America and the Middle East, including a daily emirates A380 service to Dubai.

The spirit of this event is to see the beauty of Scotland, and to visit the neighbouring countries of England, Wales and Ireland. Scotland is home to many beautiful islands, most of whom can be reached by plane. Take your favourite light aircraft for a tour of the nearby Glencoe valley, and then up to go hunting for the fabled loch ness monster near Inverness. The Dash-8 Q-400 is the perfect choice to visit some of the larger islands, such as Benbecula, Lewis and the Shetland Isles. A personal recommendation is to visit the beach airport at Barra, and experience landing right next to the water in the TBM-930.

Please be aware, that most of the gates at Glasgow airport only allow for aircraft up to the size of a 737/A321, and to allow for maximum occupancy, there will only be a few slots for heavies.

Airport: Glasgow International (EGPF)
Here are the gates available, with the airline and aircraft size according to the gate. The east pier is for easyJet, Jet2 and TUI, as they have the biggest variety of routes internationally. The central, domestic pier is for all routes to the UK and Ireland - I highly recommend these ;). The west pier is for all other international, longer haul routes.

More GA gates can be made available upon request
To reserve your spot, reply to this post with your desired gate, and callsign. Destination changes can be made within reason, those above are provided as a suggestion. If Barra turns out to be popular (which I hope it will), I will dedicate more gates to it.
Guidelines & Key info
- Please spawn at your gate 10 minutes before the start time
- Be sensible with regards to pushing back - don’t go at the same time as your neighbour!
- Keep a sensible distance between you and the aircraft ahead when taxiing - the APU is not a tasty pre flight snack
- Have a look at Glasgow airport’s charts to find your gate, and other important airfield info
- Make sure you file a flight plan - FPL2IF is great for this
- Intersection departures are encouraged for lighter and GA aircraft, as you will not need the full length of the runway, and it means you get more time to fly :)
Thanks everyone for reading, and I hope to see lots of you at Glasgow soon!
