Grand Cannes Fly-Out - General Aviation
Cannes - a city that makes one dream, a city that redefines sophisticated charm. The soft climate, which is so beneficial to health, and the sun of Provence, which makes people appear in their best light, make the region a heavenly place to live. A special atmosphere is in the air, which might be a touch of glamour that brings the city along the Côte d’Azur to live.
The airport of Cannes-Mandelieu is the ideal gateway to the french riviera for general aviation located directly at the Mediterranean Sea. For many years the aerodrome constitutes an excellent turntable as well for business travelers as tourists and influences as one of the world’s busiest general aviation airports the well-being of the Côte d’Azur.
Every year in May, the world-famous international film festival takes place in Cannes, which induces the airport to its peak period. The popular event increases the number of private aircraft movements in Europe like no other. Initially, the festival would have ended on May 23, causing a wide range of filmmakers, celebrities, sponsors, and public figures to hop back on their jets. The idea of this Infinite Flight event is to recreate this spectacular scene.

Flight Planning
Flight Planning: Airport Charts
Flight Planning can be challenging, especially when following real-world procedures. To make your experience as enjoyable as possible, we have converted real-world SID departure routes to Infinite Flight waypoints that can be easily added to the beginning of your flight plan. As aircraft will most likely depart from runway 17, pilots are going to navigate according to SID “K” via DIMAD.
Waypoints: North Departure
LFMD DER17 MD409 ROLUP DIMAD AMIRO (resume own navigation after proceeding to AMIRO)
Waypoints: East Departure
LFMD DER17 MD409 ROLUP DIMAD USANO (resume own navigation after proceeding to USANO)
Waypoints: South Departure
LFMD DER17 MD409 ROLUP DIMAD OMARD (resume own navigation after proceeding to OMARD)
Waypoints: West Departure
LFMD DER17 MD409 ROLUP DIMAD STP (resume own navigation after proceeding to STP)
Active IFATC
A big thank you to FrancescoM, who assisted me to arrange this spectacular event. As a local, Francesco knows the airport and its procedures very well and is going to be the air traffic controller. Additionally, the brothers Chris and Nick Wing are going to open the departure frequency to guide you through the SID departure route. Visit Flight Planning above for more information.
Due to its high popularity, the event consists of three waves, including a time lag of one hour in between each gathering. All procedures and rules defined in the event thread are valid for all waves. Sign-ups are now closed.
Please consider following remote stands as prohibited during the event due to large aircraft positioned in this sector: GA Ramp 16, GA Ramp 12. Taking-off generally requires the spooling up of engines, with brakes on, to minimize the time on the runway while maximizing as much speed possible.
48 hours prior departure you will receive a personal reminder updating you with important information.
Please do not hesitate in contacting us if any uncertainty occurs.
