Ready for a heart-dropping approach? Ready to fly over the virtual Kowloon City just feet above the buildings? Come on down to Kai-Tak!
The world famous Kai Tak approach, often called the Heart Attack Approach to Runway 13 has you make a 47 degree turn at just 650 feet AGL, and exit out of that turn lined up with the runway at just 140 feet AGL. This daring approach requires you to turn just at the right time, if you turn too late you’re into a mountain.

Runway 13 Approach

This approach, often called the Checkerboard Approach starts to the southwest of the airport flying heading 270 at 6000 feet over Cheung Chau Island (small island to the right of VOR CH). Aircraft then proceed to fix GOLF. When you reach GOLF, turn right heading 040 and descend to 4500. This should take you right to VHHH. When you reach VHHH, turn right heading 090 and begin your approach. You should continue flying heading 090 right through fix HKOM1, at around 1500 feet by this fix. Continue flying straight through HKMM1 at no more than 700 feet. 2-4 seconds after passing this fix, begin your 47 degree right hand turn to line up with the runway!

I live in hong kong (my sleep schedule wrecked) and sunlight is between 0000Z to about 1000z in the winter and 1100z in the summer.

What about 2200Z? I looked up Hong Kong sunrise for the date of this event and it says that’s when it comes up.

yes but not very bright until 2330Z ish and I probs think about the morning is good for visibility (checkerboard)

and before 0000z l would not attend due to my sleep schedule
