20th June 1820 was the day when Argentina’s flag creator, Manuel Belgrano, died at 50 years of age. He defended Buenos Aires during the 1806/7 British Invasions on the Viceroyalty of Río de la Plata, at the time under Spanish control, fought for the independence of Argentina in 1810 onwards, and created our flag in 1812 in Rosario. He also manned the Ejército del Norte twice, between 1812-1814 and 1816-1819.
