2 problems that keep occuring

  1. I set an approach to 9C in procedures, then the AP just skips the entire procedure making me divert to Runway 27R

  1. Sometimes when I get into my flight debrief it just doesn’t count the AP+ route and only shows the Manual line and doesn’t show the full route in blue.

For the first one, that’s too sharp of a turn. Try adding a waypoint to make it a few 90° turns.

Add another waypoint to make the flight plan look like a rectangle. Thats WAY to sharp of a turn

I fly those KORD arrivals and approaches a lot…

The arrivals IRL often are “expect vectors to…” after certain points, but IF includes all the defined waypoints every time.

When you build the FP, delete the waypoints at the end of the STAR that are illogical for that overall route. ESPECIALLY if you use the GIBNS transition on those 09/10 approaches.

Save yourself a lot of back and forth, weird waypoint altitude mismatches, and that weird hairpin turn.

For #1 - sometimes the published STARs and approaches have goofy, tight turns. I use SimBrief to create my flight plans. When I load the plan, I go through it and remove any waypoints that create problematic/unrealistic turns.

Also check the VNAV altitudes and delete anything crazy - for example, you can end up with a 5,000 foot descent between two waypoints that are like 4 miles apart. The AP will put the airplane into a -3000 FPM dive that could overspeed the plane or bust the 250 KIAS speed limit under 10,000 feet.

Ahh thanks guys, and yea,I use simbrief and the approaches always look like a Sharp knife! I will either use procedures for other airports if their reasonable,and for KORD and other airports i will make sure to plan my own approach​:grin: Thanks!
