1st flight of Summer 2025!

It feels like it was just yesterday that I went back to school after a fun summer to begin my Junior year of high school and soon enough I blinked and it’s now over, I took my chemistry final today which shockingly wasn’t that hard and now it’s fine for another 2 and a half months of enjoying the humid Florida :desert_island::crocodile::tangerine: heat, hooray  I always tend to try a fun, unique route in game to start off the summer :desert_island::sun::watermelon: 2 years ago I flew a now cut route from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic :dominican_republic: to Cali, Colombia :colombia: on a generic Boeing 737-800 as back then, the MAX wasn’t in the game nor the Arajet livery. Last year I did one of my all time favorites, New York JFK :statue_of_liberty::red_apple: to Edinburgh, Scotland :scotland: on JetBlue’s Airbus A321-200 it was very fun to fly a narrowbody on a transatlantic flight and I’m hoping to redo that very flight once the A321neo finally releases.

Now what am I gonna do this year? Well if you’ve stuck around for some time, you may remember my ORIGINAL topic about the unique winter seasonal flight from Miami, FL :desert_island::smiling_face_with_sunglasses: to Montevideo, Uruguay :uruguay: served by American Airlines not the trip report from February, this one. I mentioned that besides AAs MIA → MVD flight, there was another country Bolivia :bolivia: that only had one flight to the US :united_states: and it was from Miami :desert_island::smiling_face_with_sunglasses: to Santa Cruz de la Sierra on their flag carrier Boliviana de Aviación (BOA) on their “new” Airbus A330-200. Now fast forward 1 and a half years later, I FINALLY got the chance to do this flight but unfortunately we don’t have the A332 in the game nor do we have ANY BOA livery so I had to stick with the generic A333 instead. I just realised that each flight I do to start a summer vacation doesn’t have the aircraft in game  1 has just been recently added but we still await the other 2 but without further to do, let’s just get started!

FLIGHT INFO:

Origin: Miami Intl :united_states: (KMIA)
Destination: Viru Viru Intl :bolivia: (SLVR)
Flight Time: 5:55
Airbus A330-300 (Generic)(Supposed to represent BOA)
Server: Expert

At the very end of undeniably the worst section of the Miami :desert_island::smiling_face_with_sunglasses: airport, F16 to be exact is the Airbus A330-300 that we will be flying for almost 6 hours down south to Bolivia :bolivia: it’s nice to fly this route with a modern aircraft in game as before, BOA used the Boeing 767-300 on this flight which in game isn’t exactly up to date  but now we got a good enough aircraft to fly MIA → VVI so let’s get onboard and ready up the aircraft!

Now this summer :desert_island::sun::watermelon: didn’t exactly start smooth as the crosswinds at MIA weren’t favorable but hey an old saying of mine is, “could’ve been worse” :joy:

Goodbye Vice City! :desert_island::smiling_face_with_sunglasses: next stop, Bolivia! :bolivia:

The Airbus A330-300 isn’t the most powerful plane in game as even a fairly light load called for almost full throttle on departure and most of my flight but at least it handled our cruising altitude of 35,000ft much better than last years JetBlue A321 flight? This ENTIRE flight would be in the dark which sucks as you can’t get a good view of the landscape below like Camagüey, Cuba :cuba: which were flying above right now.

Fast forward a bit, and now it’s time to begin our journey through South America with the first sight we’d pass over tonight being beautiful Barranquilla, Colombia! :colombia:

Deep south in Colombia :colombia: you can find the city of Leticia in the Amazonas department which as the name suggests, it’s pretty much in the heart of the Amazon :deciduous_tree::cloud_with_rain: and directly south is the city of Tabatinga, Brazil :brazil: also in a state called Amazonas. Running along both cities is the Solimões River which is part of the grand Amazon River, which is often put against the Nile in Africa for being the worlds longest river!

Unfortunately and pretty much expected, there isn’t a whole to see of the Amazon Rainforest :deciduous_tree::cloud_with_rain: especially in the night which really sucks but you wouldn’t be seeing much other than trees so it’s fine anyways, Brazil :brazil: is a big country but sometimes I forget that away from the coast is just a big dense rainforest with pretty much nobody except animals.

There’s not a whole lot you can see on the route between Miami :desert_island::smiling_face_with_sunglasses: and Santa Cruz especially in the night so let’s just cut 2 hours of flying, we are now officially beginning our descent into VVI just a bit south of Trinidad, Bolivia :bolivia: with a view of the Isiboro Sécure National Park and Indigenous Territory in the background.

Soon enough, our gear is down, flaps are set, checklist are complete, we’re perfectly on the correct glide path ready for landing onto VVIs runway 16. A early morning spotter even came out to the airport to take this AMAZING  picture of our A330 just about to touchdown especially for night time standards.

After a pretty lengthy flight throughout the entire night, welcome to Santa Cruz de la Sierra’s Viru Viru International Airport the primary airport serving Bolivia :bolivia: as the capitals of Sucre and La Paz are really high in elevation with La Paz being at a WHOPPING 13,325ft above sea level. Sucre isn’t any better being 10,210ft ASL. Those geographical flaws make Santa Cruz the main airport to serving the country. This aircraft will spend the next day here at VVI before embarking on Friday across the pond to Madrid, Spain :spain: while I much preferred last years first summer :desert_island::sun::watermelon: flight and flying MIA → MVD instead, I’m glad I was able to get this flight done and I hope I can do it again, maybe when we get a BOA aircraft or American Airlines resumes flights down here. That’ll be it regarding this long flight from Miami, FL :desert_island::smiling_face_with_sunglasses: to Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia :bolivia: kicking off summer 2025. Stay tuned for my Thailand :thailand: trip in June where I’ll fly the other big Middle Eastern giant, Qatar Airways and as always between now and the next time, see you in the sky!:waving_hand:

Like always!

Hopefully one day soon we will be able to fly this route properly on the A330-200 in IF as well as many other routes to South America!
