The Hong Kong International Airport was officially opened on 6 July 1998 and its predecessor, Kai Tak Airport, was closed at the same time. Currently, Hong Kong International Airport has three runways, with only the north and south runways in operation as the centre runway is under maintenance. Hong Kong International Airport is also the headquarters of Cathay Pacific Airways, where you can see a spectacular array of Cathay Pacific aircraft parked on the tarmac.
