Youre right on queue with that request - even though the FCO-BOS is one of ITA’s last remaining A330ceo routes, its due to start seeing NEO service in about a month!

We believe it has been a bit too quiet over here. Instead of just giving a generic “event bump”, we’d like to share some fun facts about Fiumicino Internatonal Airport to get everyone excited for the event in just about 1 months’ time - all crafted by our amazing Pilot Operations Manager @Ivan0921!
- It handled 50 milion pax in 2024
- It was opened early, just in time for the 1960 Olympics in Rome
- A portion of the original terminal building still remains in use today in an unrenovated state
- It used to have a fourth runway - a runway 16C/34C, which is today a taxiway
- It is due to start a massive terminal expansion in the coming years, to push capacity to 80 million pax per year
- ITA is FCO’s biggest airline, carrying between upwards of 25% of passengers
- It was voted best airport in Europe by ACI for five years in a row
- It was one of the first airports in Europe to have an automatic passenger train connecting terminals
