16AUG20 / 1200Z - Farewell British Airways 747 - A HUGE Fly-out @EGLL (COMPLETED)

Why the 747 is the most iconic aircraft in the world?

The 747 was introduced in the 1970’s with its test flight taking place in 1969. Pan Am being the first operator of this iconic aircraft, nothing screamed air travel quite like a double decker plane, with passenger cabins to destroy claustrophobic passengers fears these airborne beauties with huge business class seats, some even had bars where you could collect your beverages and snacks, what more could you want in an aircraft right?

The 747 beat the odds of predictions of only lasting a few years flying, now 50 years on the beautiful aircraft still operates in our skies.

However, with the recent announcement of various airlines retiring their 747 with immediate affect, it will be extremely sad to see them go!!

One of the biggest operators, British Airways announced the retirement of their whole fleet of 32 aircraft and replacing its operations with the newer more fuel efficient aircraft such as the Airbus A350’s and Boeing 787’s.

So this event will celebrate the 50 years The Boeing 747 has been operating with the beautiful British Airways flag. Lets fill EGLL with numerous 747’s operating all of their most popular routes!!

Routes will be listed below, feel free to operate any of these routings, or even chose something of your own, the main point of this event is to celebrate the Icon that is The Boeing 747.
