Welcome to the 757 Weekend!
Presented by @anon97174548, @tunamkol and @anon17115501
As some of you already know, us three posted a poll asking what flyout we should do, and Dublin won. However, Sal was very close behind, so we decided to do both! We tried to put in as many flights as possible with the amazing newly reworked 757-200!
Day 1 - Saturday
We chose this airport because of the high number of gates it had, and many 757 operators flying there. The main focus for the event is the brand-new Aer Lingus 757! However, we have loads more routes and airlines, check it out!
Dublin is the capital and largest city of Ireland, being home to more than 1,900,000 people. It is located on a bay on the east coast, at the mouth of the beautiful River Liffey. It is bordered on the south by the Dublin Mountains, a part of the Wicklow Mountains range. It is a very old city, settled by the Vikings in the early 100s. Therefore, the city has many ancient structures. Dublin is known for the friendliness of its people and famous for its craic (“crack” - that mixture of repartee, humour, intelligence, and acerbic and deflating insight that has attracted writers, intellectuals, and visitors for centuries).
Dublin Airport (IATA: DUB, ICAO: EIDW) is Dublin’s biggest airport, located 7km north of Dublin. This aiport has many different operators flying to, but most importantly, it is Aer Lingus’s (Ireland’s Flag Carrier) main hub. Dublin serves various transatlantic and international flights. Over 32 million people flew to/from Dublin Airport last year, which made it the 12th busiest airport in Europe.
This airport has 2 runways, both of them under 10000 feet. (1 new under construction), however, usually only one of them (10R/28L) is used. It is 8,652 feet long, allowing most aircraft to operate at Dublin. 16/34 ( 6,798ft) is barely used, it is only active if there are incredible amounts of crosswinds.
This airport was bulit in 1940, making it 80 years old. However, the airport kept expanding till the 70s.

Day 2 - Sunday
In the second day of this event, we will be heading south to the warm Cape Verde Islands, specifically to Sal. Sal serves many 757 destinations and with the new Cabo Verde livery, why not make an event! Sal also came 2nd in our poll, only 11 votes behind Dublin. We hope you like this event!
Sal (Portuguese for “salt” ) is an island in Cape Verde. Sal is a tourist destination with white sandy beaches and over 350 days of sunshine a year. It is one of the three sandy eastern islands of the Cape Verde archipelago in the central Atlantic Ocean, 350 mi (560 km) off the west coast of Africa. Cabo Verde is known for year-round kiteboarding, for the large reserve of Caretta Turtles and the music of Cesaria Evora.
Sal Airport (IATA: SID, ICAO: GVAC) is the busiest airport in Cape Verde. Its Cabo Verde Airlines’ base, which is Cape Verde’s flag carrier. Cabo Verde airlines offer flights to Europe, North America, South America and Africa from Sal. The airport only has 7 commercial gates, and only 1 runway (01/19). This runway is paved and is 10,735ft long. Runway 01 is usually active at GVAC and is the only runway which has an ILS. It served nearly 1,200,000 passengers in 2019. AmĂlcar Cabral International Airport was built in 1939 by Italy.
Fun Fact: This airport was also one of NASA’s locations for a facility to handle the Space Shuttle after reentering from orbit.
